Willow

Female

Adult

Alaskan Husky

What a sweet angel is our old Willow. She’s Babb’s sister and just as beloved, but more athletic and a hard driver. She can also turn off the gas and lay around for some petting. She is up for adoption and most definitely ready for a couch somewhere in America!

William

Male

Unknown

Alaskan Husky

William is kind of a weird dog, but I am hoping we keep getting to know each other and continues to grow more comfortable with himself and here at Snow Buddy. He’s come a long way since he was taken into a shelter after some neglect at his birth kennel in Washington. Since Aethelflaed came along a little later, William seems to be adjusting better and better. Give this guy some space. We think he needs it for now.

Tuck

Male

Unknown

Alaskan Husky

Tuck is brand new to our kennel and we’re excited for him to find his running legs here. He was raised by a very sweet girl named Mary and she raced with his as her best lead dog until had to go off to college and mom and dad couldn’t keep her team. She checks in on him a lot and will likely take him home with her when she graduates in a few years. We’re happy to keep the sweet boy moving until that day comes.

Ruckus

Male

Adult

Alaskan Husky

Ruckus is so stinking cute! He’s Brady’s buddy and they are quite the powerhouse leader pair. He’s a little past his prime for racing so our friends in Seward parted ways with him reluctantly, just because they know we will give him a great life here. Please make sure to give this guy a lot of love, he deserves it!

Rambler

Male

Unknown

Alaskan Husky

Rambler’s Dad, Hudson was here for a couple of years until he found a great home in Idaho. Now we have Rambler to fill Huddy’s big boots and he had risen to the job and then some! He’s so sweet and handsome and takes his work very seriously. Unfortunately, despite so much drive and talent, he gets muscular myopathy when he races and run long distances. He holds up great during shorter runs and it’s what he loves to do – run and pull in lead. We’re happy to have this beautiful boy and he’s happy to have you give him and rumpy rub.

Quantum

Male

Unknown

Alaskan Husky

Quantum is up for adoption but may be a lifer here. He is QBall’s brother but had a very circuitous path to finding his home here. He was used hard and thrown away by his previous owner. He raced well when he was young, had a great life until he was sold and landed in a tough spot in Washington state, until law enforcement intervened. He is up for adoption, but given some advanced medical needs, we are open to sponsorship too. If he ever left our care, he would need a very special owner.

Puffin

Female

Unknown

Alaskan Husky

Puffin is a bit of a fireball. Her squeaker gets stuck on at feeding time and play time and running time and she’s a lot like Orca in harness. She’s so cute but don’t turn her loose at the trail! She gets the zoomies and can’t hear a word! She just tears and tears and tears circles and she won’t stop! What a funny animal. Boy is she cute!

Medusa

Female

Unknown

Alaskan Husky

Medusa is here because Lark fell in love with her when we went to pick up some other dogs in Great Falls, MT. Our friend Clayton and Lark were fast friends and struck a deal regarding Medusa. Lark promised to treat her like a queen and the rest is history. We are excited to see what she does in harness this winter, as she’s only been here since late fall.

Junior

Male

Young

Alaskan Husky

Junior is a snuggle bug who just won’t stop jumping up! We’re working on it, but watch out, he comes out of nowhere! He’s a young dog with a lot of potential and now that he’s healthy after his rescue from WA, we hope to help Junior find his stride here. He’s made a lot of friends and he’s very happy. We’re excited to see what he can do in harness!

Havoc

Female

Unknown

Alaskan Husky

Havoc retired completely here 2 years ago. She’s looking really old lately and lost a lot of the shine she once had. You can still see her get up and go at feeding time though! Other than eating, Havoc loves to have under her collar scratched and she loves a good bone. Please visit the refuge site to sponsor Havoc as she’s not well enough to adopt.

Grit

Male

13 years old

Alaskan Husky

You will never see sweet old Grit at the trailhead. He’s 13 years old and he mostly naps in the sun these days. He had a long racing career before he was sold and unfortunately ended up in the wrong hands. He’s safe here now and living out his life, plodding around the property, taking little snoozes and sleeping in the barn at night. Please visit the refuge site to sponsor Grit if you are interested!

GrapeNuts

Male

Unknown

Alaskan Husky

Grape is the biggest dog in the kennel and seems always to be suffering a crisis of confidence (a chihuahua in a sled dog body?) He’s as strong as 5 dogs and if ever figures that out, we’re in trouble! He’s so sweet and eager to please and we hope as he gets older, he gets bolder, finding his place towards the front of the team. For now, he’s more than happy to pull his heart out somewhere in the middle.

Geoffrey

Male

Adult

Alaskan Husky

Geoffrey came from Aspen when Krabloonik closed for good a couple of years ago. We try not to have favorites but who wouldn’t love this overgrown marshmellow! Geoffrey is one of our hardest working dogs and he’s one of the sweetest too. We are grateful he landed here on accident! He was supposed to be an old dog named Katie and they sent Geoffrey instead. Well, we’re keeping him!

Dixon

Female

Unknown

Alaskan Husky

Dixon was born in Great Falls, MT. Her father is half Greyhound and half Malamute and Dixon seems to have gotten just what she needed from each breed to be fast, strong and have a thick coat that keeps her happy in winter. She loves cookie tent time, but don’t pet ANY other dogs when she’s got her eye on you, she’s a jealous girl!

Brady

Male

Unknown

Alaskan Husky

Brady and his buddy Ruckus (often in lead together) both had illustrious racing careers with our friends in Seward at Turning Heads Kennel until they were rehomed here for semi-retirement. We are so blessed to have such sound minded and intelligent dogs here with such an impressive resume. They are as sweet and well-mannered as they are smart and hard working. This handsome pair has a lot of personality.

Bernice

Female

Unknown

Alaskan Husky

Berni is brand new to Snow Buddy, but we can tell she’s going to be very happy here. She was born in Canada, moved to Seward and was rehomed here from our friend’s kennel because she just couldn’t find her stride there. She’s beautiful and very smart and you will find her charging out front here almost every trip.

Aethelflaed

Female

Unknown

Alaskan Husky

Aethel came to us as part of a group of dogs involved in a rescue in WA – 8 in total. She is William’s sister and she’s all gas, no brakes! She can be very shy, but if she likes you, you will have to peel her off you because she’s so affectionate. She had a rough start in life, but she’s a great little sled dog and loves being a Snow Buddy

Haka

-

9 years old

Alaskan Husky

Haka was born on the Norris Glacier in Juneau AK 9 years ago. He was sold after racing and ended up on the wrong side of the tracks. We’re not sure if he’s going to heal up well enough to do tours here this winter, but he’s a great Meet and Great dog and is lovely in the house and with children. Visit the refuge site if you are interested in adopting Haka!

Babb

Female

10 years old

Alaskan Husky

Babb was a mid-distance race dog in Montana before she landed here. She doesn’t run full time here because of some nerve trouble, but she still makes cameos at the trail on the light sleds on easy days. She’s Lark and Von’s favorite dog and is really great with kids. Please visit the refuge site if you are interested in adopting Babb!
